Inspiring Young Readers from PK2 to 6th Grade
At Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School, the library plays a vital role in nurturing a lifelong love of reading in our students. From PK2 through 6th grade, each class visits the library twice a week. During these visits, our librarian shares stories and engaging lessons, helping even our youngest students discover that reading is a joy for all ages—and that the library is an exciting place to find new books to explore.
Our library curriculum fosters a strong foundation in print and media awareness, while exposing children to a wide range of literature. As students develop their appreciation for books, they also learn how a library is organized through concepts matched to their grade level.
In addition to encouraging reading for pleasure, we emphasize important research skills. Students are introduced to both print and digital sources, learning how to find reliable information, evaluate its quality, and use it responsibly.
Every library visit includes time for students to choose from our collection of over 3,000 titles. Whether reading for fun or for classroom activities, our young learners find the resources they need to support their curiosity and inspire a true love of reading.
