Our Library Supports Reading and the Pleasure of Reading.
OLF Elementary School Library provides students with the foundation for a lifelong love of reading. Students visit the library twice a week with their classes. The librarian presents stories and lessons to introduce our youngest students to the concept that people of all ages enjoy reading and that the library is a great place to find books.

Students will gain an understanding of print and media awareness, as well as literature exposure and appreciation. While promoting a love of literature, the library curriculum also addresses the organization of materials in a library through grade-appropriate concepts.
Students will learn how to access information in print reference sources and on the web, how to evaluate information, and how to use information ethically. During each lesson, students can choose and borrow books from the library’s collection of over 3,000 titles. The books can be used for reading pleasure or to support activities in other classes.
