Today we continue the celebration of the Christmas season as we mark the eighth day in this Octave of the Nativity of the Lord. The shepherds find Mary, Joseph, and the Infant Jesus in the manger at Bethlehem. They were the first to hear the Good News proclaimed to them by the angels, who sang out in joyful chorus: ‘Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace.’ The shepherds became true evangelizers, making known the Savior’s birth. Along with Mary, our Blessed Mother, we ponder this great mystery of God’s love for us.
