Principal Hahn’s Message on School Closing

Dr. Rhonda Clark, Superintendent of Education, announced today that all Catholic schools in the Biloxi Diocese will be closed for the remainder of the semester. Our teachers will continue to provide distance learning throughout the remainder of the school year.

We, at OLF Elementary, are sad to see the day-to-day interaction with our students come to an end.  While we will not be able to serve our students in the physical classroom, we will continue to provide high quality distance learning for all of our students.  We have a strong and dedicated faculty at OLF Elementary, and they will continue to educate their students from PK3 to 6th grade.

Beginning on April 20th, we have five weeks remaining in the 2019-2020 school year.  Let’s share a commitment from our students, parents, and faculty to make the next five weeks the best it can be.  We ask our students to participate in daily learning, parents to observe and monitor, and our teachers to provide the learning materials.  The mission of Our Lady of Fatima Elementary School is to provide a Catholic education which supports and encourages each student to reach his or her full potential.  By working as a team, we can fulfill this mission.

While these are extraordinary times that we are in, we are blessed by extraordinary students, parents, and faculty that will rise to the occasion and make this work. One day we will all have memories of this time in our lives.  We will look back on these days and share how we survived COVID-19.  While these may not be the memories that we expected in August of 2019, these will be ones that will be profound for all of us.

God Bless all of you.  We will survive this challenge and prosper.
