Student Activities

Beyond the classroom and the academic day, OLF Elementary offers great opportunities for trying new things, for self-expression, for learning… and for fun!


MathCounts Competition – a national program that provides students in the 6th grade the opportunity to compete in live, in-person contests against and alongside their peers. This competition is held locally in the spring.

Reading Fair – This annual competition provides students in grades K-6th the opportunity to share their favorite fictional book through a project / storyboard display. This competition is held annually in the fall.

Science Fair – OLF Elementary participates in this annual event held at the MS Coast Coliseum in the spring. Students put together a science and engineering display at compete against area students for a chance to move on to the state competition.

Other Events – OLF students also participate in spelling bees, geography challenges, lego league, and other local academic events.


Halloween Carnival Performances – An art contest is held each year for student to design the carnival t-shirts. Students are also invited to participate in the talent show where they may perform in front of a live audience. The talent show includes students dancing, singing, or performing on a musical instrument.

Theater – Each year OLF students put together a spring musical for families and friends. Students are actively involved in every aspect of performance – including costume, set, sound and lighting design and production. Recent performances have included Willy Wonka Junior and Seussical Jr.

Community Service

Boy Scouts – OLF students are invited to participate in the local Boys Scouts.

Girls Scouts – OLF students are invited to participate in the local Girls Scouts.
