A procession of animals, everything from dogs and cats to hamsters, came to the OLF Elementary courtyard for a special ceremony called the Blessing of Pets. Students and their families brought their household animals to receive a special blessing. Father Henry McInerney offered a prayer and sprinkled each pet with holy water. This annual fall tradition is conducted in remembrance of Saint Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures. Principal Cindy Hahn said “pets play an important role in the family and the daily lives of children.”
