Can You Make Your Child Smarter?

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal (12/26/18) addressed this specific question. According to the article, “one area of agreement is that while intelligence is determined mainly be genetic factors, the environment shapes how those genetic predispositions play out.  This is specially true during the first few years of  life, when the brain is most malleable”.

The article also states that a stimulating home environment plays a big role in a child’s intellectual development especially at the dinner table. Along with the home environment, interactive reading with children under 4 is another powerful factor. (The WSJ Article)

At Our Lady of Fatima Elementary, we believe that our educational curriculum plays a significant role in developing our student’s intellectual abilities along with building the desire to learn. It begins at PK2 and continues throughout our entire program.
