Welcome Back! “Oh! The Places You’ll Go!”

Dear Parents

We hope that all of you are having a wonderful family summer! Our vacation time will be ending soon and we will return to regular school days.  We look forward to seeing our friends and families again.

We usually have a theme for the beginning of the year and try to maintain this theme the entire school year. This year we will stay positive with Dr. Seuss’ – Oh! The Places You’ll Go!  We feel that there is no limit to the abilities of our students!  So, we would like to welcome you to join in our adventure!  If you are a new family, welcome.  If you are our returning family, welcome back from vacation… we have missed you!

We have a few reminders that everyone needs to be aware of…..School begins at 8:00. We will ring a bell at 7:55 and you are considered tardy at 8:00.  We are required by MDE to have a certain number of minutes of instruction each day and the time begins at 8:00.  Our school day will be 8:00 – 2:50 each day.

In an effort to ensure that we give you every opportunity to get to school on time and to alleviate traffic jams, we will have traffic flow in the morning the same as last year. You will enter the campus from the NORTH entrance and travel to the yellow lanes facing SOUTH!  This will provide more property for the back-up of cars.  Pre K children should be in the lane closest to the building.  We will have adults to escort the children to the appropriate entrance.  Afternoon pick up will be the same as last year.  Pre-k children and siblings will be picked up in the rear of the school near the Parish Hall.   Students and siblings with homerooms (k, 1st, 2nd grades) in the North building will be picked up in the north lot lanes facing south. Students and siblings with homerooms (3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th grades) in the south building will be picked up in the south lot lanes facing north.  All students will be walked to the cars by a teacher in the front of the buildings.  Pre-k children and siblings will picked up at the fence.

Our crossing guard has requested that you use your turn signals so that she might be able to assist you in merging into traffic in a timely manner.

Please find attached a calendar for the month of August and a reminder of the summer reading books and assignments. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school office.

We will have Orientation on August 3 in the classrooms from 5:30 until 6:30. We will have 3- 15 minute sessions for everyone to visit classrooms.  The first day of school for students will be August 5.  This will be an early dismissal day at 11:30 with no lunch served.  We will not have After Care until Monday, August 8.

We will have an Open House in the Our Lady of Fatima Church on August 16 at 6:00. More details will come home about the Open House at a later time.

We look forward to a fun and exciting school year with your family. God Bless You!

Thanks

Cindy Hahn
